We received a message about the need to knock down echo inside of an old meeting hall. The meeting hall was built in 1926, and had gone through a lot of major transformations but the sound inside of the space during different town meetings was out of hand. The owner noted that once enough people entered the hall it became very loud, and hard to hear. He also noted that the hall was used often and carries a lot of different conversations inside on a daily basis.
After contact we completed an onsite consultation of the space where we measured the room, marked down the make up of the room, and took pictures for future reference. This information allows us to find the official reverberation time of the space and then create a quote.
The official reverberation time of the space was at 3.95 seconds Once we find the reverberation time we can determine how much square footage will be needed in the space, as well as a price for the complete install. In order to get the reverberation down to 1.0 seconds we had to install 810 sf of Traditional 2” REVRB Acoustical Panels. We then came back and created a layout of the panels to match the square footage number with the owner of the hall. The end number was 35 panels and all of the panels, besides one, were able to fit onto the ceiling so that they could stay out of direct sight.
We faced some complications in needing to pull a permit for fire inspection due to the age of the building. These complications were resolved quickly. All of our panels are Class-A fire rated and will pass a fire inspection every time as long as they are laid out correctly. Another complication we faced was being able to get scheduled considering how often meetings were being held. We were able to work out an install date that made sense for both parties.
Once all of the permit issues were resolved we were able to come in and install. The installation took place about a month after the on site consultation. We had our guys in the hall for just about 2 days working on staging to get all 810sf of panels up on the ceiling of the meeting hall. They were able to get all panels up according to the layout, as well as a full clean within the 2 days.
